PEOPLE

A step away from the usual, but these particular 'glimpses' of random strangers said much

about our day for me. Young and old alike, everyone enjoyed the parks.

This gentleman was a grandad with

his small granddaughter feeding the birds

A young lady, happily lost in her music amid the busy park

Cheerful youngsters clambering wherever they could

This chaps wonderful smiles & shouts displayed his joy openly

Young girls watching the world go by without a care in the world

Finally my beloved wyfe Rachel, at peace in this oasis of beauty

I hope you have enjoyed these pictures, glimpses of a truly marvellous day. Leamington Spa? We love you and will be back some day to enjoy you some more!

ODDMENTS

Fabulous pillar boxes (for postal mail), like sentries

Water sprang delightfully from many features in this spa town

Waterfalls galore in the main Jephson Park

Children playing on the pretty park bandstand

This curious pathway transpired to be where they led horses

to the river to drink. Not just horses either,

the circus frequented the town so elephants were often seen here!

BUILDINGS

I loved the clouds playing on the glass arches here

See this fascinating little walkway through an arch?

Look half way up this Church tower... it's all the way up there!

Fascinating building on the park housing a statue of

the MD Mr Jephson (whom the park is named after)

who prescribed the town spa for health benefits

Leamington was filled with glorious buildings like this one

BRIDGES

This beautiful arched walkway lead to a bridge

This pretty one, to be precise

There were wonderful hidden alley walkways, bridges overhead

This fabulous blue painted bridge had tumbling water beneath

Bridges through the town, overlooked by balustrades

Rachel and I had the most delightful day out on Monday, courtesy of Luisa, to Leamington Spa. I'd never been, but goodness did I see some enchanted glimpses! So here are a few posts selected from the very many pictures I took that day.

These pictures were sent in by my mum, 'BT', formerly known as Bakewell Tart and otherwise familiar as The Crafty Gardener because of her blog, named for her two favourite pasttimes gardening and crafts.

...and just in keeping with the skulls theme, I spotted this on the road myself!

Post 2 of 2 from our day trip to Bolsover Castle, this time some of the fabulous arches we found on our explorations!

My favourite shot of the day, this girl simply lost in the atmosphere of the place

The impressive arched doorway to the riding stables

Doorway 'arches' among the ruins, one after another...

Some of the incredible scenery we saw, through another arch, naturally!

A pair of children posing for their parent's photograph,

draws ones attention to the sheer size of the arches

Bolsover Castle ~ 13th March 2009

WINDOWS

A wonderful day out at Bolsover Castle (post 1 of 2) to show our American guest 'Q' some English heritage. We had a lovely time, the scenery up there is amazing and the castle itself, from the ruins to the riding stables and the pleasure 'keep' itself are well worth the time to wander at leisure.

Cotswold Wildlife Park ~ 30th January 2009

We had the most wonderful day at the Wildlife Park. Specifically we went to celebrate our boy Aimee's birthday the next day, it was her treat to go see the wolves. These few pictures were the obvious 'enchanted glimpses' I spotted during the day... the rest of the pictures (of animals mostly) can be found here if you're interested.

SIGNS

This first one only was taken by Barry aka Whipper_snapper whose wonderful Flickr photostream can be found here and is well worth a look. (I took the others below it)

This shot was of the pub in Derby where my son Tony & his band played their very first gig!

Loved this sign above a shop in town... super for a hairdressers, non?

Finally this sign was one of a huge number of all but identical ones in the back roads of Devon. I kid ye not... lovely, simple, but one got dizzy going on unclassified and even 'unsuitable for motors' roads by following these signs on a mini adventure!

Fabulous window at the Red Lion Inn, Chesterfield.

Daylight and conkers, lovely

These two windows were taken whilst I was sat eating dinner, a meal out for my mum's 60th yesterday. Lovely meal, smashing company, good food/service... magical time with mother, Aunt Miranda, cousin Rachel.

The following shot is my favourite since the chap in the coffee shop window at Newcastle.
I believe it should be viewed full size, to really capture it's feeling.
A couple of walkers rest awhile under a magnificent arched window

Almost my favourite shot of the trip, this derelict building doorway frames an equally derelict old fashioned English red telephone box.
